Low-stock alerts
Set per-variant thresholds and get notified the moment Shopify inventory drops below the line.
Why edge-triggered
Most inventory alert systems run a scheduled job once or twice a day. BinTech evaluates thresholds the moment Shopify fires an inventory webhook, typically within seconds of a sale, adjustment, or fulfillment. If your stock crosses the line at 2 PM, you know at 2 PM.
Creating and editing thresholds
- 01 Open the Alerts page
Navigate to Stock alerts in the BinTech sidebar. The page is split into two sections: Triggered (alerts that have fired) and Configured (all thresholds you have set up).
- 02 Click "Add alert"
Search for a product variant. Enter the threshold quantity (the level at which you want to be notified). You can optionally add a note, e.g. "reorder from supplier X".
- 03 Save
The threshold is active immediately. If the variant's current available inventory is already at or below the threshold, the alert triggers right away.
To edit an existing threshold, click the row in the Configured section. You can change the threshold quantity or delete the alert entirely.
Triggered vs configured
- Configured
- A threshold exists for this variant but current inventory is above the threshold. The alert is watching but has not fired.
- Triggered
- Current available inventory is at or below the threshold. The variant appears in the Triggered section with the current stock level and the threshold you set.
Triggered alerts auto-resolve when inventory rises back above the threshold. A restock clears the alert automatically. You do not need to manually dismiss them.
Recompute action
If you suspect a webhook was missed or you want to force a fresh check against Shopify's current inventory, use the "Recompute" button at the top of the Alerts page. This re-evaluates every configured threshold against live Shopify data and updates triggered/resolved states accordingly.
Tier limits
The number of variants you can set thresholds for is gated by your BinTech plan:
| Plan | Alert SKU limit |
|---|---|
| Free | 25 |
| Basic | 50 |
| Pro | 250 |
| Unlimited | Unlimited |
If you hit your limit, BinTech shows an upgrade prompt when you try to add a new threshold. Existing alerts are never deleted or paused when you downgrade. You just cannot add new ones until you are back under the limit.
Email notifications
BinTech can send an email when a new alert triggers. Configure this on the Settings page under "Low-stock alerts."
- 01 Enable email alerts
Open Settings and scroll to the Low-stock alerts section. Check "Enable low-stock email alerts."
- 02 Set a recipient
Enter the email address that should receive alerts. Leave blank to use the Shopify store owner email.
- 03 Test delivery
Click "Send test email" to confirm the address works. The test email mirrors the format of a real alert.
Emails are sent once per triggered alert. If the same variant triggers again after restocking and dropping back below the threshold, a new email is sent.
