Privacy Policy

01Plain English summary

We process the minimum amount of data required to help you manage your warehouse bins. We don't track your customers, we don't sell your data, and we don't use advertising or remarketing trackers. We use Google Analytics on this public website to understand which pages and product actions are useful. If you uninstall the app, we delete your app data.

02Who we are

BinTech is a Shopify application designed to help merchants organize physical inventory. If you have questions about your data, you can reach our team at support@bintech-shops.com.

03What data we collect

From Shopify (via OAuth and webhooks)

• Store details: shop domain (e.g., store.myshopify.com) and Location IDs.
• Product data: variant IDs, SKUs, and titles so we can map them to bins.
• Order info: we receive order and fulfillment webhooks to generate pick lists. We only read the item IDs and quantities; we do not store customer names or addresses.

From your input

• Bin information: names you create (e.g., "A1-04"), descriptions, and priority settings.
• Inventory logs: cycle count records and movement history within the app.

From the public BinTech website

• Website analytics: Google Analytics records page paths and basic technical information about a visit, such as browser, device category, and approximate location.
• Product-interest events: we record when a visitor clicks a Shopify installation link, clicks our fixed support-email link, or first interacts with the warehouse cost calculator.
• Calculator privacy: the numbers entered into the warehouse cost calculator stay in the browser. We do not send those field values to Google Analytics or our servers.

What we do NOT collect

• No customer PII: we do not store names, phone numbers, or emails of your customers.
• No payment data: all billing is handled by Shopify. We never see your credit card.

04Why we collect it

Under the GDPR, our legal basis for processing this data is Contractual Necessity. We need this information to sync your inventory and generate accurate pick lists. We also have a Legitimate Interest in maintaining security logs to keep the service running smoothly and in measuring aggregate use of our public website so we can improve it. We do not use website analytics for advertising or remarketing.

05Who we share it with

We do not sell your data to anyone. We only share information with the minimum service providers needed to run the app:

• Shopify: to handle authentication, data syncing, and billing.
• Linode / Akamai Cloud: our secure infrastructure provider.
• GitHub: to host our internal application images.
• Google Analytics: to measure visits and the limited product-interest events described above on our public website. We disable Google Signals and advertising personalization in the website tag.

06Where your data lives

Your data is stored on secure servers located in Chicago, Illinois (USA). We ensure that our infrastructure providers maintain high-security standards for international data transfers.

07How long we keep it

• Active stores: we keep your data while the app is installed.
• Uninstalls: once you uninstall, your access tokens are deleted immediately. All other data is hard-deleted within 30 days.
• Compliance requests: we honor Shopify's mandatory customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact webhooks. Because BinTech does not collect, store, or process any customer personal data, the customer-scoped webhooks are acknowledged and audit-logged but require no data action on our side. The shop/redact webhook (fired 48 hours after uninstall) acts as a defence-in-depth backstop to our immediate uninstall cleanup, ensuring total shop-data removal.

08How we protect it

We treat your data like our own.

• All data is encrypted in transit via TLS.
• Sensitive access tokens are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption.
• We use Shopify Session Token validation on every single request to prevent unauthorized access.

09Your rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You can also object to processing or request a data export. Since we don't store customer PII, most of these rights apply to your store's configuration data. Contact us at support@bintech-shops.com to exercise these rights.

10Children's data

BinTech is built for business owners and warehouse operators. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 18.

11Cookies & tracking

The BinTech app uses essential session technology required to authenticate requests within Shopify admin. The public website uses first-party Google Analytics cookies to distinguish visits and produce aggregate usage statistics. These analytics may include page views and the limited product-interest events listed above. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site profiling, and we do not send calculator inputs, support-email contents, or Shopify merchant data to Analytics.

You can block or delete analytics cookies in your browser. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking analytics does not affect your ability to use the website or the BinTech app.

12Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and notify you via the email address associated with your Shopify store.
